The project was conceived site-specific for the Vooruit in Ghent in 2017.
The work aims to reflect how tangible and intangible things can bring new forming constellations. It refers to an iconic image known as Pillars of Creation captured in 1995 by the Hubble Space Telescope, where it’s very visible what's left of the neutral gas that powers the creation of new stars.
The invisible creative spirits are made into an object, and the object is then again the organ that pumps spirits and creative thoughts into action. A variety of colored pillars are also a reference to talk about past and future. They bring new light and energy that cleanse the people’s and space’s vibes through a new pumping organ.
“Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is.” (Douglas Adams)
'Amusement Park' is a living sculpture, a festive occupation, a colorful ritual. A site-responsive installation for large buildings (indoor and facades), where the site becomes the container for turning the invisible spirit into an object. The object is then again the organ that pumps spirits and thoughts into action. Multiple PVC color tubes spanning 1km each are spread and entwined through the building, and are then connected to a heavy air blower, making them alive.
